The following retreats will be running ONLINE:

  • March 25 – 27 (Friday to Sunday) – Community Introduction (North America Time Zone)This retreat will enable you to learn more about who we are as Community. We are aware that many people may have ‘found’ us during this season – through our daily prayers, leadership reflections, prayer network or Monastic Living blog – and are wanting to explore further what it would mean to journey with us. Priority will be given to those who have already expressed an interest in postulancy or the novitiate but there are likely to be other spaces available. SPACES AVAILABLE

I was so thrilled to join in with the creative Saturday morning and loved it all! Since then I felt inspired to write a poem….So looking forward to the next month..!

Creative Saturday Morning Retreat – January, 2022
  • 26 March – Creative Saturday Morning 9am – 1.30pm This morning retreat offers space to pause from the activity of daily life and enter into a quiet stillness where we can listen to God and to our lives. Following the monastic rhythm of the day that we find at Nether Springs, we begin with Morning Prayer leading to a couple of hours for solitude with an optional creative focus, prayer and reflection in your own home. There will also be a suggested creative activity. Gathering back together for Midday Prayer, we end our time over a shared online lunch together, finishing at 1.30pm. SPACES AVAILABLE

The virtual prayer room became a special and sacred space. The presence of God was tangible and the faces of all the participants on my screen gave new meaning to Alone and Together. The Zoom sessions with my guide still enabled the depth of sharing which, for me, is such an essential part of an Individually Guided Retreat.

Individually Guided Retreat – June, 2021

As well as daily input, for all of our online retreats, retreatants will have the opportunity to join in with our monastic rhythm of four-fold prayers, which help us hold the space for us to be transformed, through our encounters with God.  And we also have twice-daily ‘kettle on’ spaces, hosted by members of our Welcome and Hospitality team, as valuable ‘places of informal connection’ for those who would like to join in.

We intentionally keep our numbers small, so that retreatants can experience a more personalised welcome.

Our new-format, five-day retreats involve both inner pilgrimage – a journey of inner work, silence, study, peace and rest and an opportunity for the ‘Heart alone with God’ staying full-board in an ensuite room – and outer pilgrimage, a chance to engage with the Celtic heritage of Northumberland.

Driving up, I asked myself WHY I felt the need to drive so far just to have a rest.  Surely, I could have found something closer to home.  But as soon as I got here, I remembered why I needed my time of retreat to be at Nether Springs, and it was worth every mile.’

There will be one Inner and Outer Pilgrimage Retreats running at Nether Springs in March, followed by one in April:

21 – 25 March (Monday to Friday) FULL

14 – 18 April (Monday to Friday) SPACES AVAILABLE

‘Thank you for keeping a safe space.  I feel comfortable leaving here and collecting my mother from the hospital after surgery and spending the next week with her.’
