Making donations to the life and work of the Northumbria Community

As a registered charity, The Northumbria Community Trust does not ask for a set fee to cover the cost of your stay at Nether Springs, online retreats or Northumbria Community events. Instead, we invite donations to support the life and work of the wider Community as a whole.

Many retreatants welcome a suggestion as to what might be an appropriate donation. This is always a difficult question to answer. However, for your guidance, the suggested donation is indicated against each retreat in the programme. We ask that you make as generous a donation as is possible without risking hardship. Through the work of the Community, the generosity of those who can afford more will benefit those who have less. As the weekly and monthly costs of running the Community are substantial, we would greatly value your integrity and generosity in this regard.

Please refer to the *suggested donation in relation to the retreat you have participated on.. If you are a UK tax payer, please do consider ‘gift-aiding’ your donation.

However you give, please do remember to indicate which retreat or event your donation relates to as this would greatly help us to cross-reference any gifts received on our accounting system.

A Note about Gift Aid

If you are a UK tax payer, and Gift Aid eligible, please consider also completing either a one-off Gift Aid donation form, or a regular giving Gift Aid form and returning it to the Northumbria Community Office – office@northumbriacommunity.org

Can I make donations to the Community with American dollars?

Yes – but please don’t send any American checks to the UK.  The Northumbria Community USA is an incorporated non-profit organization, registered with the State of New Hampshire and the IRS. Checks can be made out to Northumbria Community USA and sent to:

All donations made in this way are fully tax-deductible. Unfortunately, we are not set up to take credit card or PayPal transactions.  You can make donations through the website using an American credit card (www.northumbriacommunity.org/who-we-are/support-the-community) however, donations made in this way are not tax-deductible in the US.  Funds in the NC-USA treasury are used to support the Mother House in the UK and any events we hold in the US.
